Ok, the first "mod" I've gotta do to my Jeep is put the hitch on.

Any recommendations on what hitch and/or branch of hitch I should purchase, where I should purchase it from, and if it's an easy install, or if I need to plan on paying to have it done?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure on a wrangler you need nutstrips to put a hitch on, which are nuts welded to a piece of metal strap that you slide into the frame so you don't have to maneuver a wrench in there to hold them, or if you like working on projects for way longer than expected, getting frustrated and fitting your hands into really small places you could go without :smt003 . You can get them at the dealer or order them online for half as much money, up to you :smt002, or someone with a welder and a few minutes free could make you some no problem.

Other than that if you have some normal sized wrenches its super easy to install, just a 2 person job since you need someone to hold it in place while you start the first couple bolts. As for brands they are pretty much all the same, buy whatever is cheapest, just make sure its a 2 inch receiver, don't waste your money on some flimsy 1 inch job. Also it helps to buy one that has little tow hooks on it for recovery, you can put the tow strap right into the receiver or get an insert, just a matter of preference.

Thanks!

Was thinking of just going with this one:
http://www.quadratec.com/products/12015_99_07.htm
Hidden Hitch 3500lb / 300lb

Someone else had the opinion that Reese was the best to get:
http://www.quadratec.com/products/12015_01_07.htm
4000lb / 400lb

But since a Wrangler is 2000/200, I'm guessing there's no need to spend the extra $40.

Speaking of extra...$30 to ship it. Yuck. Saw some Reese at the local Advantage Auto the other night, but if I recall, they were in the $150 range also.

I really like that Hidden Hitch $100 price point. :smt003

Thanks much for the link. I'll update again once I've actually pulled the trigger on this.
